AMCHA, a registered NGO, was established in 1987 by Holocaust survivors and mental health professionals. For nearly four decades, AMCHA has been a leading provider of mental health and psychosocial support for Holocaust survivors in Israel, reaching some 18,000 survivors and Second Generation members through its nationwide network of centers. AMCHA provides long-term psychotherapy, home-based care, psychosocial clubs, and volunteer support, helping Holocaust survivors maintain quality of life, dignity, and meaningful social connections. Extensive Trauma Care Since October 7 Since October 7, 2023, AMCHA has expanded its expertise in trauma care to support people of all ages and backgrounds affected by the horrific events of the war. Services include individual, group and family therapy for children, adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, PTSD, traumatic loss and grief. Those receiving support have included survivors of the Nova Festival and returning hostages and their families, residents whose homes were destroyed, soldiers and emergency responders, evacuees, and many others directly or indirectly affected by the war. AMCHA has also strengthened its services for children and adolescents by recruiting specialized therapists and establishing dedicated, child-friendly treatment rooms in three branches. Today, AMCHA’s work extends from its original mission of supporting Holocaust survivors to providing professional psychosocial care to trauma survivors of all ages throughout Israel, drawing on nearly 40 years of experience in trauma treatment.
