AKIM, Association for the Habilitation of the Mentally Handicapped, Haifa, Israel- IsraelGives.org – Donate to any Charity in Israel Akim Haifa provides a variety of services in the areas of employment, housing, health, welfare, education and prevention of exploitation, thus enabling our population the possibility of living as normal a life as possible in matters of housing, employment, recreation, self-fulfillment and overcoming challenges. A life of meaning. Akim Haifa’s population includes all genders, races and socio-economic status. All members of the management committee are volunteers who receive no compensation whatsoever for their work; some, are themselves, parents to mentally-challenged individuals. Alongside the committee is a large group of volunteers and professional, capable and skillful personnel from varied professions, including teachers, social workers, physicians, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists and maintenance workers. All, for the purpose of providing quality service, which meets the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our population.
