Afikei Orot is a non-profit social organization which functions as a community in the city of Ofakim, a city that sits in the Western Negev of Israel. It was established in 1997 by residents who had their schooling in the city and who, after their military service and studies, had returned with their families to the city, being then joined by families drawn from the entire country. It has a current membership of 85 families. The association operates and is characterized by the values and principles of religious Zionism. It has 15 employees in addition to National Service volunteers, and organizes a variety of activities in the city. Most of the core members are engaged in formal or informal education while some are qualified professionals.
