Adalah – The Legal Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel is an independent human rights organization and legal center, registered in Israel and based in Haifa and Beer Sheva. Established almost 30 years ago, Adalah’s mission is to promote human rights in Israel in general and the rights of the Palestinian minority, citizens of Israel, in particular (around 1.6 million people, or 20% of the population). This work also includes promoting and defending the human rights of all individuals subject to the jurisdiction of the State of Israel (e.g. Palestinian residents of the OPT). Adalah activities include the following: (1) Legal Actions: bringing strategic impact litigation and other legal interventions before Israeli courts and state and military authorities, and providing legal consultation to individuals, NGOs, and institutions; (2) International Advocacy: appealing to states and international human rights institutions such as the UN, and publishing reports and analyses of critical legal issues; (3) Legal Education: training legal apprentices and new lawyers in human rights litigation and advocacy and giving lectures to students, teachers, NGOs and others; and (4) Media: conducting extensive media and social media outreach in Arabic, Hebrew and English.
